Welcome back after the half term break – we hope you are well rested after what was a short but very busy half term.
We would like to congratulate our Y6 children on completing their SATs assessments. They worked incredibly hard to ensure that they were as well prepared as they could be and should be extremely proud of their efforts.
Now that the SATs are over, we turn our attention to the final half term of the year, which will include our annual Y6 residential trip to Beaumanor, Sports Day, Hempshill’s Got Talent Y6 Production, Summer Concert and of course the Y6 Leavers Assembly. To help us to prepare for this, Adam Pepper will be visiting us at the beginning of July to make a short film reflecting on the children’s memories of their time at Hempshill Hall.
Our topic for the upcoming half term is ‘Changes’. We will be exploring the positive and negative environmental changes that we are witnessing in our world and the impact that they are having. We will also be completing a series of SRE lessons where children will learn more about the changes that are occurring in their bodies, as well as exploring relationships and the different forms that they can take.
Obviously, one of the most significant changes that our Y6 children will be experiencing is their upcoming move to secondary school and we will be doing all that we can to ensure that they well prepared for this transition. Please ensure that your child is aware of the dates of their school’s transition days where they will experience life at their new school and have the opportunity to meet peers and teachers before September.
If you have any concerns please feel free to come and see any of the Year 6 staff preferably at the end of the day.
Mr Wright, Mrs Bond, Mr Brazener, Mrs Maddocks and Mrs Romeo-Price
