Welcome back after the Easter break – we hope you are well rested and didn’t eat too much chocolate!
We would like to remind you that this is an important half term for our Y6 children as they will be taking their KS2 SATs assessments on the week beginning Monday 13th May. Over the next few weeks, we will be revising all of the crucial areas of the curriculum that we have taught and therefore it is essential that your child attends school regularly, as well as any additional booster groups. On the week of the SATs assessments, please ensure that your child has had a nutritional breakfast, a good night’s sleep and arrives to school punctually.
Our topic for the upcoming half term is the Animal Kingdom. We will learn how to classify animals in different ways and explore how they have adapted to live in their specific environments. In addition, we will investigate the different threats faced by animals in our world today. We will also be taking part in whole school events such as the Diversity Week and Maths Day.
As always, we would like to request that the children read regularly at home and complete weekly literacy, numeracy and spelling homework on time. Please see the timetable below as a guide to when homework is given out and is due in.
Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to remind you that we still have some of the packs of practice SATS papers (English and Maths), priced at £2.20 each. These will provide useful practice as your child prepares for their KS2 SATS in May – if you would like to purchase the packs, please bring the money into school.
If you have any concerns please feel free to come and see any of the Year 6 staff preferably at the end of the day.
Mr Wright, Mrs Bond, Mr Brazener, Mrs Maddocks and Mrs Romeo-Price
